Why this service exists
Most owners redo a roof once, maybe twice, in their lifetime. Few people are used to it. Faced with a first quote, the questions pile up: what is an elastomeric membrane, do you need a permit in Laval, what should the price include?
We answer these questions before you sign. Our guides start from what owners really ask, and our form saves them from picking a roofer at random.
What we do
- We explain. More than a hundred pages on repair, flat roofs, shingles, commercial roofing and roof replacement, written for someone who has never held a roofing quote.
- We follow Laval's rules. The permit, flat roof coverings and permitted materials fall under the City's Code de l'urbanisme (urban planning code), the same in every area. We read it at the source and we cite what it says.
- We handle your quote. You describe your roof, and we call you back to come and see it.
How a request works
It all starts with the quote form. There you describe the type of roof, the problem you see and your area. We call you back, we come and see the roof, then you receive a written quote.
The quote is free and does not bind you to anything. Take the time to read it, ask your questions and compare it with others before you sign.
Our commitments
- Facts you can check. The City's rules, the assistance programs and the prices published on the site carry their source and the date it was read.
- Limits stated clearly. When the City does not specify a point, the page says so and refers you to the Service de l'urbanisme (the City's urban planning department) instead of guessing.
- No made-up reviews. This site has no invented testimonials and no satisfaction ratings.
- Your safety first. No guide sends you onto a roof or up a ladder.
- A single use for your information: calling you back about your request.
What to check before you sign
With any roofer, take the time to look at:
- their licence, in the public register of the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ, Quebec's building authority)
- what the quote states in black and white: the material, the area, what is torn off and what is replaced
- whether the new covering is the same material as the old one: for a residence in Laval, the permit depends on it
Our sources
The municipal rules come from Laval's Code de l'urbanisme and from the City's web pages. The assistance programs come from the websites of the City, the Government of Quebec, the Government of Canada and Hydro-Québec. These rules and programs change over time. Before any work, have the City's Service de l'urbanisme confirm what applies to your address.
The guides provide general information. They do not replace the advice of a professional who has examined your roof.
